Gary Owen was born to a coal mining family in western PA and raised in a small rural community in the Appalachian Mountains. He moved to Florida 33 years ago and studied Criminal Justice; he later became a Law Enforcement Officer in the state of Florida. He owned and operated a wholesale, retail, and flooring installation business for 15 years prior to entering the insurance industry 12 years ago. He joined the US Air Force Auxiliary in 1998 and became a Search & Rescue Mission Pilot, then later a Squadron and Group Commander, and subsequently appointed as the Florida Wing Inspector General. He received numerous ‘Commander Commendation’, ‘Achievement’, and ‘Life Saving’ Awards during his tenure. He is a graduate of the US Air Force AETC, Air University’s, “Air Command Staff College”. Gary also attained the Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow designation with the American College. He qualified for MDRT while at AIG and qualified for Leadership Club and Leadership Council. He served 6.5 years with a national Medicare carrier and currently is the President of Owen Insurance Group located in Stuart, FL. He passionately works with 200+ agents in his General Agency specializing in Medicare, Long-Term Care, and Life Insurance Planning. For fun, Gary likes to travel, operates a “Whisky Tasting Club”, and is a PADI qualified Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver. He lives in Palm City, FL and has a beautiful 20-year old daughter (Kaitlyn).  



Executive Administrative Assistant

Livia Bonet is the Executive Administrative Assistant for Owen Insurance Group. She assists agents with all of their contracting needs and is the liaison between insurance carriers and agents. Livia is responsible for customer service and client relations, as well as coordinating logistics and marketing for all Owen Insurance Group events.


She possesses impeccable customer service skills and is ready to tackle any task thrown her way with a smile. Before this role, Livia worked as an Administrative Assistant with Toll Brothers at Jupiter Country Club where she was in charge of sales implementation and reporting, event planning, sales tours and was the first point of contact for all potential homeowners. Livia is originally from southern Indiana and is married with two beautiful children. She has been in Florida for 25 years and currently resides in Port St Lucie while enjoying biking, travelling and truly living the Florida lifestyle.



Marketing Director

Julie Scott was born in North Dakota but was raised as a Navy brat and lived in many places including London, England. She is the Marketing Director and a licensed insurance agent here at Owen Insurance Group.


She assists with day to day administrative duties and marketing the OIG brand. Over 20 years of experience working with the public in customer service-related positions. Julie’s passion is helping people!


She’s lived in Florida for 42 years and married with 2 kids, a granddog and a grandcat. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, boating, walking the beach and travelling. She is happy to be a part of the OIG family.



Field Manager

Michael Barbone was born in Ohio and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama; his Masters of Business Administration degree from Regis University; and his Juris Doctor degree from St. Louis University School of Law. Mr. Barbone practiced law in Missouri, Illinois, and Florida for fifteen years. He was an adjunct professor at Mid-America Paralegal Institute, and has published articles and delivered presentations on numerous professional topics.

Mike was co-owner and chief legal counsel for Double Z Enterprises, a broadcast company headquartered in Arizona. He also served as Public Information Officer and legal liaison for Research Partners, Inc., an international medical research company. Later, he was District Manager of business sales for Verizon Wireless. Mike is a Field Manager for Owen Insurance Group, a premier insurance agency dedicated to providing Medicare and life insurance solutions.

Mike is active with the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America, AARP, Toastmasters, and a number of local charities. Mike and his wife live in Odessa. He enjoys travel, animals and sports.

Field Manager

Wil was born and raised in Paterson City, New Jersey to Colombian parents. His hometown was an established blue-collar community where he Iearned the value of academics, faith and hard work. 


Wil learned the value of insurance after being approached by a life insurance agent.  The level of knowledge that agent had regarding the insurance industry and how everything revolves around risk in our day and age really impressed him, so much so that he changed careers from Electronics Engineering to Financial Services.

Having obtained his bachelor’s in finance and Economics in 2019, he currently provides financial security and free financial advice to his clients regarding their future financial decisions on retirement and insurance planning using a full range of insurance products and strategies.



Field Manager

Tom Bouvier was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana until he was 17 years old, enjoying a life of sailing, athletics and camping. Active in the Boy Scouts, he earned the status of Eagle Scout in 1979. Later that year his family moved to Melbourne, Florida where he graduated from Palm Bay High School one year later. He then went to Florida State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. He spent the next 20 years working with Campus Ministries around the world and Ministry Organizations in the Chicagoland area. In 2002 he and his family moved to Port St Lucie to work as a Real Estate Investor, buying, selling and renovating homes.

Later, he began helping people by selling medication and medical supplies. His desire to help people with their healthcare needs led him to obtain his health insurance license where he specialized in Medicare plans. He became a Coach, Trainer and Training Coordinator overseeing the training of hundreds of Licensed Agents during the Medicare Annual Election Period each year. He is honored to be a part of the ‘OIG Team’ now, offering Medicare plans from many different carriers. He is also licensed to provide Life, Long Term Care, Annuities and other insurance products that help reduce financial risk and provide peace of mind. He is here is serve you and provide the information you need to make an informed healthcare decision.


Field Manager

Rick Maraj was born in Winnipeg Manitoba. His parents migrated to beautiful Sarasota Florida when Rick was only 10. He earned a Marketing and Finance degree from Florida International University. Rick found his calling in Finance and Insurance once he graduated.


Insurance quickly became his calling when he unfortunately lost his father at the age of 51 due to a massive heart attack. Rick was only 28. He saw the devastating effect the lack of insurance had on his mom’s situation when his father died. He and his mother struggled for many years trying to make ends meet. Rick made it a mission to educate his clients on the importance of maintaining a “lifestyle” after the unexpected loss of a loved one. Rick has now been serving his community for well over 25 years.

In addition to the importance of life insurance, Mr. Maraj also works very closely with our senior population and understands the importance of providing the best quality of life and health care options for them. Rick is also licensed to provide retirement income planning solutions for those worried about the safety of their money as they near or enter retirement. Rick can customize a personal “Pension-Plan” that will provide a guaranteed stream of income till the very end.



Kathy was born and raised in New Jersey and relocated to Florida 15 years ago to enjoy the “Florida lifestyle” (No more snow).  Kathy has one son who also resides in Florida and who proudly serves as a state certified Law Enforcement Officer. Kathy has spent most of her professional life serving mid to large firms in the Accounting/Bookkeeping field.  In striving to better herself, she later secured her license in property management and managed a 206-unit property in Palm Beach County. Through her own past healthcare challenges and frustrations, she felt she could better serve others by obtaining her license as an Life & Health Insurance professional. In 2018, she obtained her Florida state Life, Health & Annuity license.

Kathy as proven her commitment to excellence, professionalism, attention to detail and serving others which led to her 2019 promotion as team leader of the Medicare Department. Kathy’s ‘down-to-earth’ and fun personality is a quality that allows her to relate and communicate exceedingly well with everyone she meets. When you meet Kathy for the first time, you will feel as if you’ve known her a lifetime. Kathy stays actives within her community through volunteering.  She enjoys traveling, gardening, refurbishing furniture and living a healthy lifestyle.  She stands behind the famous quote by Theodore Roosevelt…” No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”



Renee brings 20+ years of experience to the healthcare industry. Her most recent role was VP of Sales Operations at Teladoc Health, the first and leading telehealth company in the telemedicine industry.  Renee started as an inside Sales Rep., simply “dialing for dollars.” When offered the opportunity to build the Sales Operations Dept she gladly accepted the challenge. By the end of her 7-year tenure, she was managing 15 remote team members in 4 different areas; Contracting, Sales Support, Events and the RFP/Proposal team.

Prior to Teladoc, Renee worked for the Laser Spine Institute, traveling with a group of Physicians, running educational seminars on Endoscopic Laser Spine surgery across the country. She left the Laser Spine Institute for the opportunity to join Teladoc Health.


Her career in the healthcare industry started at Avalon Healthcare, where she worked her way up from an inside Sales Rep. up to a Regional Sales Manager (RSM), for Central Florida. She built an extensive book of business with Brokers, selling Individual, Small & Large Group and Self-funded/ASO plans. At that time, Avalon was the first health plan domiciled in Florida to be Admitted in the State in 18 years.  Her career ended after 5 years when Healthcare Reform came into play because small health plans were no longer sustainable.

Renee is married and resides in St. Petersburg, Florida. She enjoys boating, fitness and traveling around the world, most often to South America to visit her son in the Andes Mountains.

I am a proud mother of two sons (one is in the Air Force in Omaha) and the other is a student at Palm Beach State. I paint, write, garden, and am constantly devoted to improvement. I am a Certified Hypnotist and a Health Coach. I have learned many skills and the most important one is listening.

Carole Casella grew up in Upstate NY. Her background in physical fitness led her to work in a premier Business Athletic Club – developing membership while providing opportunities for business and social interaction. Upon receiving a Business of Science degree from Roberts Wesleyan College, she moved to Florida 24 years ago.

Carole’s focus changed to working with companies of all sizes, providing services of a Professional Employer Organization, known also as Employee Leasing. Business services included a full range from payroll, administration, human resources, workers compensation, employee benefits and more.


In 2001, Carole formed Assurance Solutions Inc. offering Worksite and Individual Benefits Solutions. Benefit programs start with health insurance both under age 65 and over age 65. Expanding into additional enhanced/voluntary benefits to include Life, Disability, Accident, Critical Illness/Cancer, Hospitalization and Long Term Care. Working as an independent consultant representing all reputable carriers, Carole can “Assure” the right “Solution” for individuals & families and in the workplace.


Dina Calenzo grew up in upstate New York.  Her background is in client based sales as well as working in NY for a federal Judge for many years before relocating to SW Florida 15 years ago.  Her passion has always been to create an enhanced customer service experience and to exceed the expectations of clients.

This focus on serving others led her to healthcare and she joined Lee Health in 2014.  She works as a post-acute relations representative and assists patients with navigating the health system and in receiving the right level of care at the right time.  She understands how difficult it is to navigate through Medicare insurance.  Dina has won numerous awards while at Lee Health including a Doc Coggins Commitment to Excellence Award for customer service, and multiple key contributor awards for advancing health key system initiatives.  She is certified in Hospital Advocate Training, and Healthcare Marketing. With over 15 years of marketing, sales and healthcare experience, Dina understands how to build trusting and long lasting relationships with families and the community. Dina has 2 children both in high school and enjoys spending time with family, boating, going to the beach, kayaking , and especially playing pickleball


Roger Candela has been a licensed insurance agent since 2005 and represents major carriers such as United American, Aetna and United Health Care, who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the industry, as well as sound financial reserves and selective underwriting standards. Roger’s business is concentrated on the business markets and the Senior Market (Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Supplemental Plans).

Roger was born in Tunis, Tunisia and migrated to the U. S. at the age of seven. He was married to Mathilde Candela and has 3 children and five grandchildren. As a consequence of being born to immigrants and being married to a French “gal”, he is fluent in French and Italian. He enjoys woodworking, tinkering with projects and one of his goals, is to travel to most of the world he hasn’t seen yet.

Roger’s primary business goal is, to educate his clients so they can best protect their independence, assets and peace of mind. Roger has a straight-forward approach when consulting with clients, helping them to choose customized plans and providing innovative solutions for their individuals needs. Roger spends a significant amount of his time working with clients who are concerned of the effects that not being protected with sound and affordable care may have on a family – both financially and emotionally.

Lynn Welch was born in Pawtucket RI, where she attended the University of RI and received her bachelor’s degree in Nutrition. Lynn was and still is passionate about animal welfare which lead her to be interested in a plant-based diet at the age of 19. She chose to pursue her Registered Dietitian designation and work in a hospital setting, planning and educating patients per their individual dietary needs.


After a few years, Lynn decided to move to Colorado, and it was there she changed her career to insurance. While working for AAA, she obtained her insurance licenses for both Colorado and Florida. Seeking a more flexible schedule, Lynn left AAA and took a position with United Health Care selling Medicare products. This allowed her to continue her career while caring for her husband who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She is excited to be part of the Owen Insurance Group! Helping match clients to their product solution is what she enjoys most about insurance.

Lynn lives in Vero Beach, FL. She enjoys being with her cat and dog. In her spare time, she likes visiting relatives and friends and cooking plant-based meals.


Paula McGuire was born in Dominican Republic, but she has been living in Florida since 1992. She is bilingual and speaks Spanish and English. Paula has been in the medical field since 1996, and has gained extensive knowledge being a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Medical Assistant.


She has always had a passion for helping people, so she decided to become a Licensed Insurance Agent in 2015 to help others on the other side of the medical equation.

Paula is extremely excited to be part of The Owen Insurance Group so that she can continue to help clients understand their options for medical plans in the complicated world of Healthcare. She looks forward to being able to individually help you find the right plan for your personal situation.

Jackie Colucci found her calling, literally, by accident. A brutal car crash led her family to the brink of bankruptcy – despite having health insurance! In 2002 she discovered a class of insurance that would have saved them SO much grief – had they known it existed. 

In 2003, Jackie chose to leave her successful 20-year career in Business Administration and dedicate the rest of her life to HELPING PEOPLE AVOID FINANCIAL RUIN. 


The first path to helping came by way of Aflac supplemental insurance plans. In the process, she discovered the huge complexities of Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and dealing with the financial aspects of aging. She became determined to LEARN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE and BECOME AN IMPARTIAL ADVOCATE for the public. 


A Cum Laude NYU graduate, Jackie holds degrees in journalism and sociology. She is fluent in German & SPANISH; a lifelong student of finance and economics; a BOD at PBAHU, Member of NAHU & FAHU, and an LPRT Golden Eagle recipient.


Jackie is appointed and certified with major carriers and BEHOLDEN TO NONE. Licensed in over 12 states, she is an INDEPENDENT, UNBIASED SPECIALIST in Original Medicare Supplement plans (Medigap), and Prescription Drug Plans (PDP), Medicare Advantage (MA/MAPD) and Dual-Eligible Medicare Advantage Special Needs plans (DSNP, CSNP).

Hi my name is Andrew Perry. I am a husband, father, custodian of two Cairn terriers and insurance agent, although I’m not sure the list is in correct order, whoof! I have enjoyed two careers in life each with about the same length of time. My first was as an antiques dealer specializing in early American furniture and decorative accessories and my wife and I met at her mom’s yard sale. Didn’t buy a thing, but asked her out to dinner and the rest is( a 40 year blissful) history. When it became apparent that putting three kids through college would be a challenge, I decided a change was in order.

I had started my first business while attending Hobart College and have never received a paycheck which did not have my signature on the front or which was a commission. That is still true today, 50 years later. I knew I could relate to folks who were self-employed, and acquired my insurance license specializing in providing health, life and disability benefits to small business owners. I quickly rose to become one of the top producers in a company of over 4,000 agents. The awards I received which I was most proud of, was what we call quality business or “retention”awards, and my rate was in the high nineties. What that means is that over 95% of the policies I wrote did not get canceled. This is important because it means that folks like you understood what was explained to you, purchased just what you needed and remained satisfied with your plan. This is what it’s all about!

Agent Melissa Putnam was born in the Bronx NY and then shortly after moved to Torrington, CT where she attended the University of Connecticut. At the age of 19, she then relocated with her family to Port Saint Lucie Florida where she finished her degree at Indian River State College.


Melissa then had her son Logan which then convinced her to pursue her career in Montessori education. She continued that for 12 years and decided to venture into the insurance industry to help people of all ages. She received her license in 2017 and continues to flourish helping others receive the benefits and protection they need.


Melissa has lived in the Sandpiper area for 22 years and thrives living in Florida. From fishing, biking, boating to gardening she became a true Florida girl and loves to help others in her community.


John Young has been involved in Social Security, Medicare and retirement income planning since 1998. He has comprehensive experience working with retirees and pre-retirees. He says “Now that my wife, who is retired, and I are Social Security recipients and Medicare beneficiaries, I am walking the walk and talking the talk about actual experiences on a personal basis. I’ve been there and am doing that! My business and personal experiences have made me a better advisor to my clients. Everyone benefits from my experience.”

John’s passion is assisting his clients in developing strategies to achieve their goals and financial peace of mind. “I have found that a good mix of guaranteed income, asset protection, and conservative risk is a formula for peace of mind. John’s professional background experience and no-pressure approach have allowed him to work with hundreds of clients. “I firmly believe that educating my clients in an objective “pros and cons” manner allows them to make good, solid decisions based on facts and not sales talk.”

Mr. Young does not charge fees for any meetings or consultations. “I go at my clients pace. They like that,” he says. To accommodate his client’s needs he meets with his clients at their home, office or his office in Stuart, Florida.


Dora Gonzalez was born in Columbia and raised in NY. She has resided on the Treasure Coast for nearly 23 years. She graduated with a degree in Business Administration.


Dora is one of our bilingual agents and is very passionate about assisting the Spanish community for over 7 years with ALL their insurance needs. Medicare, Life, LTC, and Annuities are a few of the products she focuses on.  She travels from St. Lucie County to Palm Beach County to help those in need.

She truly enjoys the Florida lifestyle. When she’s not on her next appointment, you might see her on the golf course, biking or walking her beloved pups.  


James comes to us with over 16 years as a Life, Health and Accident agent. He has great passion for 
service and team building. Born and raised in Long Island, NY, James has a love for small towns and the simple way of life. In 2016 he led his team to be the #1 District Office for Aflac for the whole state of Arizona while living in the town of Pinetop with a population of only 5000 people! 

James has been coming to Florida since the 70s and moved to Port St Lucie to be close to his family, 
especially his mother who has been a resident of the Treasure Coast for 30 years.  


James has great patience and is a good listener. He knows that individual needs vary greatly. The way to truly help and guide someone is by asking questions of what truly matters to them! There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to mortgage protection, final expense coverage, wealth transfer, safe retirement income, and Medicare with all the supplements available. The time to have your map is before you go into the woods, yes?

Outside of work, James plays guitar and sings (Open Mic night at Terra Fermata when it opens!), surfs, snowboards, bikes, and has a great dog, Titan. He has a great positive outlook and loves to read on personal development.  He looks forward to being a valuable member of our team.  



Amber Jackson is a Treasure Coast born native with 3 fantastic children and has been married for 16 years. She has been a licensed agent since August 2015 and found her niche with Medicare recipients.


She served on a UHC campaign for 3 1/2 years, helping future and current members with finding a plan that best meets needs. She started as an agent and then worked her way up the ladder to become a trainer and then finally settled with the Training Coordinators position with UHC Medicare Sales.


Amber has a passion for Florida wrestling as both her son (currently in the U.S. Navy) and her daughter are wrestlers. Living life for her family and making others live hassle and stress free with their Medicare is what she sets as her goals. 


Lourdes D’Aragona was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey moved to Sunrise, Fl in 1984, and then to Port St Lucie in 2005 to raise her boys with her husband Michael, who is a firefighter/ paramedic for Broward County.


Lourdes has a AA And BS in psychology with a minor in education, has worked for non-profit organizations for 15 years before becoming a licensed insurance agent in 2014, staring her career with New York Life as a captive agent providing life and annuity products, she then went to AFLAC to provide supplemental products to group agencies and also is a director for Legal Services providing legal membership services, she has been doing Medicare and ACA For 3 years in all the Treasure Coast area.


Lourdes lives in the area of Tradition in Port Saint Lucie with her family, parents, and dogs Destiny and Sammy. Lourdes enjoys entertaining at her house with friends and family. She also belongs to a women’s networking group, called Empowering Women of the Treasure Coast.


Lourdes Specializes in helping people with their insurance plans and building relationships with her clients, she is also fluent in Spanish.
